Surgical closure of the left atrial appendage and catalysis of atrial fibrillation is intended to convert the irregular pulse (atrial fibrillation) to the normal rhythm of the sinus node. It is effective in percentages ranging from 60% - 80%, depending on the time of the onset of atrial fibrillation and the size of the left atrium.
The great benefit of the above method is the significant reduction in strokes.
The operation is performed either endoscopically or as a hybrid procedure in collaboration with the electrophysiologists.
